Grunty's Furnace is set up as a quiz that tests your knowledge of different aspects of the BK world. Different categories of questions are acessed by stepping on specific panels on the game board. The categories, seven in total, include:

:: Banjo-Kazooie Quiz: Questions pertaining to the characters, levels, and events that you have encountered.
:: Visual Challenge: You will be shown a small close-up picture of an area of the game which you must identify.
:: Audio Challenge: Similar to the visual challenge, only using samples of voice, theme song, and noise audio.
:: Grunty Quiz: Questions that deal specifically with what Brentilda has shared with B/K throughout the game.
:: Skull Quiz: A random question from any of the other categories. Beware: if you get the question wrong, you will have to start the quiz over again.
:: Physical Challenge: You will have to replay a Jiggy challenge, often with minor details changed to make it harder (e.g. less time or spelling out a word backwards)
:: Joker Quiz: Getting the question right will net you two Joker Cards. Each card will let you skip a question on the game board.
